I need a set of wheels/tires for my 94 miata(the Azenis are getting pretty slick), and I found a set of 13" civic wheels with snow tires for a good price, but the guy that lives in my head says that 13"s won't fit the 1.8L miatas....is he right?

I'm pretty sure I've seen thirteens on an autocross Miata. They were Panasports or something like them, not steelies.FWIW. You could put on a 14" and see if there is still more than 1/2 inch of clearance to the caliper. If there is, I'd assume a 13" wheel would work.

and I have 2 different sets of 14" steelies (honda crx) that I would let go for a very reasonable price....

thanks for the offer, but NC to MO kinda kills that

I found lots of posts about 13" alloys, but not steelies

I tried a set of Honda 13" steels off my friends mid 90's civic on my 94 Miata. They had a wierd seem pinch weld type of deal on the inner diameter exactly where the caliper was. Because of this they wouldn't fit. I don't know if they are all that way, but I would certainly want to try them before shelling out the cash. I don't know if a little grinding on the caliper might give the clearence needed, but I've never been real confortable cutting on the parts I rely on to stop me. You may want to try a set of 13" steels from an 80's golf/jetta. They don't have that lip sticking to the inside and they cleared ok IIRC. Good luck

I ran a set of 13" toyota tercel wheels on my 91' miata without any problems but they were quite close to the calipers even with the smaller brakes. I did pick up 2-3mpg by running the bicycle tires through.
