What tires are available in this size? I'm looking for something affordable. I'm going to get some 14 inch race wheels for competition so these really don't matter. I just need some to wrap around a wheel and drive.

Not much, really.

I think last years "hot street tire" by bridgestone, but they aren't really "affordable".

You have a few more choices if you go with 195/50/15. I believe Summitmo has some around $45-55 each.

Unfortunately, tires in that size are few and far between.

Tire Rack once offered 195/45-15's from Kumho, Continental and Michelin. Only Michelins are listed now and who knows how long that will last. And, they hardly qualify as cheap as they were listed at over $120 (each) when I checked last week.

You may want to check Toyo as a source as I seem to remember they listed that size in T1R's.

But who knows, they could be gone, too.

BTW, I've got the remnants of Kumhos in that size on my EF Civic; I'll miss them when they are gone.

I'll proably have to go with 195/50s. maybe 205/50s on the back if I go staggard.

This is a hot size for the stretch tire crowd, IIRC.

I think the Toyo T1R comes in that size...

$120 is not cheap? I think each of the tyres on my bimmer cost almost three times that

onlinetires.com (an actual reputable company BTW) has several 195/45/15's starting at $45 for nexens $47 for federals and working all the way up to T1R's for $90 and michelin's for $109

I've used onlinetires.com a number of times, I'll second that recommendation.

This. T1R's are freakin' FANTASTIC! Quite, good auto-x grip, decent wear.

I would sell the car and buy something with tires I could get under $100 per corner before replacing tires that cost $120, let alone three times that.

But...that's just me. And GTOs and Genesis V8s haven't depreciated enough yet for me to reevaluate that sentiment. ;)

After looking for somethign in that size as well (Swift GT), I realized that 3.5% larger in the 195/50 was worth the tradeoff. You get so many more options as it's the "hot size" for the Civic/Miata crowd and is not really that much larger.

The 15" tires just need to be black and round because he has some 14" wheels for race tires.
