For those of you with NetFlix, check out Miami Vice, season 2, episode 17. Lots of footage, some of it from the real race, lots of if staged. But they're still the real cars. Paul Newman got lots of exposure for his Datsun. Danny Sullivan stars and Derek Bell is briefly visible. Another star is supposedly a Porsche 906, and it sort of looks like it might be real.

    It's also on Hulu... http://www.hulu.com/watch/14843/miami-vice-florence-italy

According to Wikipedia it is season 2, episode 16 and originally aired on February 14, 1986. So that would be the '85 race, no?

ps- they built a fake Daytona so I doubt it's a real 906

The fake Daytona did stunts. The 906 didn't have to.

I might still have this one on VHS... I'm not sure. I do remember Danny was a much better driver than actor.
