Need to swap out the alternator on the Protege. It is a 2002 model.

Does not look to impossible to get at, however, if anyone has been there, done that and learned the lessons, and can give me a heads up on what to expect, it is much welcomed.

Jackstands are good. I have lots of those!

I was mostly looking for things like "You gotta take the engine out since the thing wont clear some bleeping part by 1/16" so don't wast time trying to get it past"

Pay attention to the electrical connections.

So, just to close the loop...Was no big deal. Comes out the bottom after some twisting and turning. Knowing it WOULD come out would have been nice to know since it is not obvious.

    Use axle stands

Nice benefit of the alt replacement on my 03 P5..... I didn't have to replace the headlight bulbs monthly.
