Finally uploaded my pics from their swing through Gainesville.

This was, by far, the coolest car there.

Wow. That better be a steel body on all that Vette goodness. But that patina looks too...even.

As a matter of fact, someone did comment that it was basically a re-bodied Corvette.

Sweet pictures. I went to the one lap a few years ago at Roebling. Always told myself I would do that one year. Didn't one of the GT-R's win?

The #3 GT-R did win overall (pic below). I don't remember if it was him or the other GT-R, but one of them ran a 10.9! And that was without using launch control (from what we could tell in the stands).

The drag racing format was bracket racing, which many of the guys didn't seem to understand. In fact, Ian Stewart, who came in second overall, went out early in the drags because he, like a lot of drivers, thought they should sandbag their time. They did, only to break out and lose early. The white WRX ended up winning, thanks to consistent runs.

The funniest part of the drags was the fact that the Honda Fit lasted almost all the way to the end, again, thanks to consistency.

AWESOME! My brother and I actually scored our nitrous kit for our first challenge when one lap came through ATL. We also met Brock Yates that day...and got on freakin' TV! 5 years later, we're in a hotel elevator in Kershaw SC for LeMons, and who steps in the elevator with us!? We talked pretty extensively. Turns out the guy hooked up w/Brock Yates jr. for a LeMons build, so we got to chat with him for a bit too.

People who don't understand bracket racing are funny. You never forget watching someone break out when the guy in the other lane brakes the car on the starting line. You probably only do that once.

Brock Jr. is a real good dude. He lives near here and was/is a member of our local Shelby Dodge club. He used to run the One Lap in a really badass Shelby Charger.

He also had me over to take a ride in the Mosler TwinStar he was evaluating for C&D.

+1. He and his dad both = class. Truly down to earth and willing to chat like regular dudes.

I gained some respect for the GTR that day. HOLY CRAP can that car launch! Combine the ferocious launch, the sportbike like shifting, and an exhaust that made the thing sound just plain angry, and I became a fan.

At what, about $2k per launch (about 10 before the $20k transmission explodes?) it better be pretty impressive. lol
