2011 Speed Week in Bonneville: Grassroots Motorsports forum: Grassroots Motorsports Magazine

I'm thinking seriously about going to the Salt Flats - never been there and I've got airline rewards that I need to use or lose. The event is from August 13 to 19, I'm thinking of flying to Salt Lake City on Aug 10, and leaving on the 16th. I'd rent a large car or a minivan. This gives me some time to get there and the whole weekend to spectate. I would be leaving the event a bit early, but flying in and out mid-week is a lot easier. For those of you who've done this before, would you recommend this?

We stopped by this year for a day. You can make that a pretty good visit. The only thing I wish we'd done was spend some time at the start line, watching the cars take off. I felt most of the interest was in the pots anyhow.

check www.landracing.com for links. the september World of Speed is the one I prefer. Definately want to hang on the start line - one can walk back through the line and talk to the folks.
