Hey guys, I picked up a 2000 Taurus Wagon to use as my new kid hauler. 54k miles, serviced regularly by the original owner... A real cream puff if you don't mind the motor is fried and it has a salvage history.
Anyhow, it was a pretty good C/L deal. So I've got a good 55k motor and I'm ready to do the swap. I'm dropping it out the bottom. Any words of wisdom?

Which engine does your Taurus have now? There were 2 different 3 liter engines in 2000. If it has the OHV engine...I'd go SHO, if I didn't care to do some fabbing work, but if it has the DOHC, then you are correct, pointless to go the SHO route.

I should have mentioned it was the DOHC motor. I doubt I'd be doing this if it were a Vulcan.

I had a 96 Ranger with the Vulcan. Sumbitch only lasted 325,000mi. before throwing a rod. Not exactly a delicate motor.
