How about an Escort Cosworth or an old RS Turbo for that matter. Pretty cool looking, too.. for an escort.

I love old Audis too (I have 3 of them), but any 4000 quattro that has a turbo engine is a swap. They only came naturally aspirated from the factory. Sure there are many running around, but the quality of swaps varies ENORMOUSLY, so youz takez yourz chancez.....

Oh, did I mention you could easily put down over 200WHP on stock everything with a manual boost controller? To make a stock car look like that add Outcast's custom grille, headlights off a Chevy Silverado pickup, RS500 reproduction body kit, wheels, tires, and a paint job, blam.

damn that looks good! any additional photos/ links?

op, what about a st165 celica all trac? 80's turbo awd

Dodge Omni GLHS FTW!

Ummm... Celica All-Trac Turbo FTW! Although, I am partial to the 280ZX turbo. WIth no mods it's a ricer Honda's nightmare and with light mods and some more boost it's inline 6 torque takes the lag out of turbo!

That would be the CA18DET. Pretty good motor. Can take modest boost upgrades, but don't expect to get crazy power out of it without MAJOR re-work. The SR20DET is a much more advanced starting point. But the Turbo 200SX came with a 4.11 LSD short nose R200 rear end, so it was still a great little example of 80's Turbo goodness! ;)

Oh man, that's awesome! 200 HP? Pft. I'm pretty sure I was at least 210+ on mine just with a Rapido intercooler, Gillis boost valve and LA3 computer. I loved how that car went... when it went. But can't say I cried when it went away.
That sounds weak if it's time for an internet brawl. The MX6 will put down 230whp+ and 300wtq with a boost controller. Boost controller only. BRING IT!! (of course, wrong wheel drive)
MX6 has an intercooler from the factory, XR4 does not, and can put down similar numbers with a boost controller, without an intercooler. Add intercooler and it'll be a fair fight, but it's still got right wheel drive and IRS, and you can fit some mean rubber under it. Suspension upgrades are cheap and easy, a set of Koni Yellows is under $500, add springs and a coilover conversion for the front and have yourself a killer adjustable suspension for way under $1000. Also you can replace every bushing with poly kits, T5 swaps are a driveshaft and adapter bolt in affair. Any T3 flanged turbo will fit on the stock manifold (Holset anyone?), a simple retune of the computer or MegaSquirt and you're looking at serious power even out of stock components. Upgrade fuel pump and injectors and blam, more power. Seriously, an XR4 should be considered one of the easiest and most fun 'bolt-on' power cars ever produced. Stock long blocks will head north of 400WHP before the rod bolts let go, pistons are forged. Swap rods and rod bolts and the skys the limit. You can literally cam and port your way to power on these cars if you desire. Pick a path any path and the XR4 will return with more, what say you of your Mazda now?

Oh dear 8lb, 6oz baby Jesus, I really want an xr4ti now... ah E36 M3, and I'm about to be in the market for another project soon, too...

So I was thinking that we needed some Saabs in this thread, so I did a Google search for SPG. Any way that was a 1/2 hour ago. I think SPG stands for something different in Japanese.

Shiiiit. YOU'RE kidding but im sure not. Turbo new yorkers are the E36 M3. Ive had 3, one of them being a 1 of 204 factory stretch limo-ish thing i still have, the other two i gave to my friends to spread the wealth . They're mechanically every bit as able to handle as any other k-car, and they can make the same power, all while having total sleeper status and very comfy interior and being dirt cheap.
