She already had an E36 M3... two, in fact (95 and 97)... there are enough lingering memories of those cars to make her hesitate...

Damn... was just on her webpage for her MINI with pics of the old E36 in the background... damn, that was a nice car...

You know why, mister? 'Cause you drove a Hyundai to get here tonight, I drove an eighty thousand dollar BMW. That's my name

Crap. I made the mistake of showing her that green 840 with the BIN price of $12K...

Yep. Big mistake... she just spend the last 5 minutes trying to rip my arm off wanting to go to N.C...

I think I read a statement once that the 8 series would have been even more impressive the Lexus SC300 & SC400 had never existed for about 1/2 the price and all the capability and better reliability.

Obviously that's an editorialized statement but there seems to be a degree of truth in there.

From a practical performance standpoint, maybe... but from a style and emotional view, the Lexus isn't even on the same planet.

Oh the Lexus easily wins or at least ties in style, but the BMW dominates in emotional desire.

    Fantastic looking car.

Temp gauge seems to be running just slightly past halfway.

Somewhat over priced. Granted it is the CSI (M8), but autotrader has some very nice low mileage examples 850s , manual none the less. BTW, from what I have read, suspension reworks are in order with these cars as most are probably squeaky and clunky with their age. Demand it is done first ;)

Umm... ah... no. it's not even close. I feel pretty comfortable in saying the 8 series will be remembered as one of the most beautiful cars ever made... the Lexus SC? Maybe a foot-note with a small cult following...

But as BS Levy wrote: "...bum for every seat..."

Agreed... that said, i find the Lexus SC300/400 to be one of the most beautiful cars, ever. It won't reach the same status as the 8-series because it's nowhere near as rare, so it's not as cool. It's not cool, because your friend's mom has one next door and she got it for $4k.

BMW 850: Nothing 2 Megasquirts, a pair of racing seats, and a Painless wiring harness can't fix.

By strange coincidence I happened to pick the April 1994 C&D off the pile heading into the bathroom this morning. 1994 BMW 850 CSi price as tested:$108,395. Red with a six speed manual. Had I been wearing pants, I would have had to change them.

Show her one of these. That'll get her mind off the 8-series (maybe)

SC300/400s are too ghetto where i live to be something you would want to drive unless you like your car being searched for drugs everytime you go out after dark. Im not sure what i think about the BMW 840/850, i think they might be too complicated to ever restore, so only the best of them would be worth owning. They do look nice though, comparable with recent ferarris and maseratis.
