    I need help identifying what is leaking on my 944 (86, 2.5, n/a, 8V).

The oil is wet on the very back of the last exhaust port and occasionally drips down onto the exhaust. I can't tell if there's some sort of sensor or o-ring back there, or if it's just the valve cover gasket giving up. Any ideas? I need to nip this ASAP.

Cam tower gasket OR there is a cork gasket at the back of the cam tower (facing the firewall) that goes bad quite often. If you have to do a time belt any time soon do both gaskets at the same time. The cork gasket at the back of the cam tower (between the fire wall and the cam tower) is a bit of a nuisance with with the cam tower in the car. Not impossible just a bit harder than it looks.

Thanks Dean! Looks like I'll order a top-end gasket set and a timing belt. It was due for the t-belt anyways, so it's good to know that I can nip this in the bud, too.

No problem. I just did it on my car this fall. IT is really weird to be driving a Porsche that does not leak oil. It just does not feel right.
