I finally got back around to working on my neon again and am finding out that whoever put this thing together after the motor swap did a pretty sloppy job.
Here's the deal. There's only two things I lack before the car is in halfway decent working order. The windows won't roll up and down and the radio doesn't work.
Obviously an electrical problem somewhere because I know that all this stuff is in working order it's just not getting any juice. So, to find out where the short was I started with a wire connected from the battery to a little half fuse I rigged up to put in the relays in the fuse box. Assuming that if it was between the battery and the box they would come on if I hit the right fuse. No such luck.
What I did find out was that some of the fuses did nothing. Pulled the fuse box and found that some of the wires don't even have anything running from the other side. Some have a hot wire going into a fuse but nothing that it's running. Some have the opposite. It's all a bit confusing as I was hoping for some relief from the madness once I pulled the fuse box.
So, I guess while writing this I decided that what I should do is find out which wires are hot and which wires are waiting for juice and start matching them up and putting high voltage fuses on them, or I could just back door the whole freakin thing.
What do you guys think? I really need a diagram telling what fuses are supposed to go to what, but the fuse box cover is missing. If someone knows which fuses are which could you please tell me? If I could know which ones are supposed to go to the radio and the windows that would prolly be a big help. Especially if someone knew how the wires were color coded. Any suggestions would help.
To be honest. Writing this out has been a pretty good brainstorming session and I think I know what its gonna take to fix it now, but any constructive criticism would sure help.
Sorry if this is just a bunch of rambling.
