    Hey All,

I'm selling a '99 Ford Windstar van for a friend who moved to Australia. The ABS light is on. I suspected a bad or dirty wheel sensor. The soon-to-be-PO told me his mechanic told him the light is on as a service reminder for some component. Searching the web shows a couple of recalls regarding the light with a failing sensor in the master cylinder leaking and causing a short or the brake ECM connector going bad.

My Mac Tools ET80 shows no codes. The ABS light usually doesn't come on right away. It can take two minutes or twenty before it pops on. Sometimes it's 30 seconds or so. It never comes on and stays on after the ABS does its self-diagnosis at start-up. There's always an interval, then the light pops back on.

Is there any truth to the light being related to some service interval-related procedure? If not, I'll check all the sensors next.

    Than you in advance, Jerry

I want whatever snake oil his "mechanic" is selling, cuz that be some good chit.

I'm going to bet ABS module or related. Just because it passes the self test doesn't mean it will stay that way.

The only reason I gave this any credence was the service interval indicators for many European cars of a certain vintage plus many Hondas from the late '70s - early '80s as well. Now it's back to square one. If I can only dig up a CAN tester for this thing.....
