I just watched him do the lap on Top Gear. I believe he got second. Suffice to say, I was Thunderstruck.
Yep, Brian was there. He runs some fast stuff in vintage, but I'm pretty sure this was his first DP race. I know he was at some of the pre-race practice sessions, though. I talked to his crew chief around 5:00 in the morning, and it sounded like they were having a good time.
You would think that his record label would be a little "skittish" about one of their big money makers running a race like the Rolex 24. After all there is risk involved.

He got enough juice to give himself some bargaining power when it comes to record deals anymore. Being one of the top selling artists EVER will do that.
As I recall, he's not allowed to race while touring, or once the plans to tour are finalized. I think there's also some discouragement during the final phases of recording an album, but I know we've talked to him at the track in between studio sessions early in the process of making a record.
The rest of the time, he pretty much does what he wants. As he puts it "If they don't like it, tough titties to them." Think about it: As a band, AC/DC has a higher net worth than several countries that are members of the United Nations.
"What's that? I can't race or you won't release my next album? Okay, I'll just buy the Solomon Islands and make my own record there."

I'm glad that he was there running... seems to me that I heard he was in the hospital here in Sarasota recently. Nothing serious I hope... he's one of the few good things about this place.
