My CRX doesn't have an alarm for when you turn the car off and the lights are still on. I don't have a problem with this, as I am in the habit of looking back at the car after I park it. But my family does, so I'm wondering if there is a known slick way of doing it. I can figure it out, but you know, why re-invent the wheel. Anyone done this before?

You could probably do it with a relay (or two?) and a buzzer.
You would need to find a wire that is hot when the headlights are on (maybe use that as your power for the relay), and then use a "hot with key on" wire as your signal, and run the output to the buzzer...
There may be an explanation with diagrams out there (maybe on miata.net) as a lot of people add such a function to the miata (it already has the buzzer).

My CRX has lost its buzz also. I understand it is rather common. I am thinking about opening up the unit that controls it an put in a piezo from Radio Shack or canibalize one from a junk yard unit. I just need to find where the unit is.

Same problem with the escort. Drives me nuts. My neighbor, too. He's getting tired of shutting them off for me.
I am yet to find out if the dinger is out or my latches are. I'm leaning towards dinger due to the fact that it should be triggered by more than one thing. Either way, I could rig something up. I was thinking dash lamp.

Brave, Mine is a 90 year model. I dont know for a fact that it had one. I just cant imagine it didnt. I seem to remember one of the kids at a shop I stopped at that drove an 89 said his did. I had left my lights on and he came looking for the owner.

A way long time ago, like 1983, I found a thing in the $5 clearance pile at Caldor (long gone) that I wired into my Subaru, which turned the lights off automatically when the ignition was turned off. I needed this back in the early days. I'm sure there's something like that out there somewhere.
