i was looking for some hood latches for my project camaro and i ran across these. looks much cleaner than the pin type but has anyone tried them? any input would be helpful!

I have been looking at them myself. I want to put them on the C/F hood I have for my ti.
They're not cheap, but they look very cool.
They work as well as they look. I've never had the joy of installing them, but I haven't heard any horror stories.
unevolved, have you ever seen them on an application?
I have 2 friends with these. One on a Crossfire and one on a Jetta - very clean install and looks way nicer than the pin style.

Yeah, a regular customer at a shop I used to work at had them on his GTS-prepped E46 M3. We installed them on a new carbon hood for him. Never had any problems with them, they always worked as advertised and looked clean.
I have seen these on some cars. Though I never actually worked the mechanism, I did like that they give a pretty good visual if they're not latched. Having started a rally stage after forgetting to put the hood pins back in, I see value in this feature.

that's kind of exactly the opposite of "grass roots".
maybe.. but they are clean, more functional than pins, and a lot less likely to rust

better than what? the oem latches that have a safety backup or the simple pins that hold the hoods shut on NASCAR Cup cars at over 200mph?

Buddy has them on his drift car. They're pretty awesome. I'll be using a set on the Celica and/or Escort when the time comes.

sorry to inflame people over whether or not $75 is grassroots enough....but the oem latch for a 3rd gen camaro is outboard of the core support and thus prone to releasing with front bumper contact. and since this car will see occasional track use, i just thought i'd like to keep it safe AND keep the front of my car a little cleaner than your average dirt track racer.

Waiting on two things i don't really have control over. 
Trans/diff work and now rear hubs. Suckage.
My Son has them on both his and his girls spec miata. I haven't got around to it yet. they are really nice and work well, and look great. Plus its super easy to tell from the cockpit if you have forgot to latch the hood. On a SM that can be about a thousand dollar mistake as the hood wraps over the top and smash's the rear window. Hard top and hood and paint 1k plus.. I think its a good and wise investment if you track the car.

If I was really awesome, I'd post video of a big upside-down "A-hole" covered hood destroying the windshield of our first challenge car at an auto-x. I am not that awesome.
I also use indoor plumbing instead of washing my ass in the creek, so I guess I'm not 'grassroots.'
