So I want to buy a small compressor, 99% of the function will be filling tires.

Assume a 185/60R14 is sitting at 20psi. I want to get it to 40psi.

How long will this take with a compressor rated at 1SCFM@40psi to accomplish this?

I don't want a honking compressor, but I don't want this fill to take 10 min, either.

Approximately how long will the 1 SCFM compressor take?

    Thanks, Evan

You can get a real small compressor, as long as you have a accumulator you can store as much air at whatever psi the compressor can achive.

If you want to run any tools that flow, air ratchets, grinders, spray guns, etc, thats a different story.

For about $100 you can get a 1HP compressor from Campbell Hausfeld, Sears, Harbor Freight. It will fill the tires quickly and let you do a little more.
