Announce Tequila Patron and a Fancy Cheese company as the title sponsors. Does anyone find it funny to see a Panoz made out of cheese? I think the ALMS should be worrying about the lack of entries in this years field.

Unfortunately, i think you are right. Grand Am seems to be the place to be right now. Cheap(ish) series to run.

A few years back I had a pretty relaxed professor and he just wanted us to do a general research paper comparing two things. So me being a hardcore sportscar racing freak I decided to compare the price of running an ALMS GT2 team vs. running a Grand-Am DP team for a whole season. After talking to many PR managers, team managers, etc from both series I found that one could run two DP cars/teams for the same price as running one ALMS GT2 car/team. That was a few year ago...but I imagine thigns are the same still. Grand-Am has more cars and exciting races, the only thing they are lacking compared to the ALMS are the super exotic prototypes and huge factory teams.

In reply to DirtyBird222: Not mention GT2 cars are what a race car should look like. The DPs, well I've seen better looking door stops.

I am so bummed, I just found out that my anual training will be over the ALMS race at Mid Ohio, I have not missed that race in a lot of years.

Ya, the GT cars are what come to my mind when I think "race car". I hope they are able to get through this year so next year things can get back to normal.

uhhh i said it cost less to run DP cars than GT2...DP cars may not look good but at least the racing is...When is the last time you saw an exciting LMP battle that involved more than 3 cars and not an Audi or Porsche?

Yeah, but it's hard to tell them apart or get emotionally excited about a DP car.

I'm confused now, because earlier we were talking DP v GT2 and now we're talking DP v LMP. Perhaps some clarification is in order. Why would you compare DP against GT2 when they are disimilar vehicles? Wouldn't the valid comparison be between DP and LMP? The reason I ask is that you make that very comparison in your last statement.
