Just FYI, when they designed the Miata (you know, GRM's answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything), they lifted the transmission straight from the B2200. You hear of turbo Miatas handling insane amounts of horsepower through their stock transmissions. So that's a viable option.
My 91 B2200 was the only truck I've ever driven that I could heel-toe downshift.

Ah... so the transmission should hold up, then. Any idea how strong the rear end is? This is sounding like if i go with a COP ignition setup, would be fairly easy.
