If you're thinking 1st Gen Rx-7, remember that Mazda still sells the factory IMSA GTU and GTO bodykits/flares direct through Mazdaspeed. Sawzall the 1/4's off and add new 1/4's, doors, fenders, fascias, and aprons. Just a thought.

I still like Catera on 04 GTO brakes with an LS1 swap...

Wrecked GTO on eBay now. Considering it for the Catera.

I'd love to see pics of the Mazdaspeed stuff but can't seem to find much. Help?

Technically the bolt circle will fit on 5x4.75" (small GM) as well. So any Camarobird should work if the hub bore fits.

Thanks John that's what I was wondering.

All 04-06 GTO's came with 17's standard. 04's have smaller brakes but all of them can fit 15's on the rear and skinny 15" fronts for drag racing. You'd be surprised but I'm pretty sure these will fit over 04 GTO brakes in the front too.

Skinny 15s don't actually go back over the brakes very much, and have much less "rim depth" inward from the tire mounting surface. I daresay these wide 15s would have a much smaller diameter open area to go around the brakes. Just saying, test fit BEFORE making an expensive purchase in a car.

I had to modify wheels made for a Ford, that physically bolt onto a 2nd gen RX7, in order to clear the calipers. it wasn't even diameter, but distance from the hub mounting surface to the inner surface of the spokes that causes the spokes themselves to rub on the face of the caliper.

No, I'm talking 5" and 6" wide fronts. 05/06 has to grind the calipers, 04's bolt right on. Nearly any 15" should bolt onto 04 front brakes. All will take 15x10 on the rears.

Some great suggestions so far. Until you sort through the options how about a supercharged bar stool?

+1 How much is it through Mazdaspeed?

Looks like roughly $2300 including the lexan rear window. Take that out and you're under $2K (before shipping).

The wheels are still looking for a home. As much as I'd like to do the SA22 RX-7, it really needs to have 4 doors or at least a reasonably comfortable back seat.

I checked into it, and I believe that all of the "kits" for the LSx/Catera from LPE are already gone.

Even with the kits, though, wiring is supposed to be extremely difficult.
