    MIATA!!!!!

    This:

Is now in MY driveway! $2500 out the door. Hardtop has defrost (how in the hell do you turn it on anyways?) and a headliner, everything works, and drives great! We can't wait to autocross this thing. Yes "we". Audra started racing last year. Loves autocross, hates the carb'd rotary of doom hence why I'm selling the RX-7. We're sharing this from now on.

    Pics and details tomorrow!

That looks like one helluva deal. I like the wheels, or at least what I can see of them. Panasports? Or some imitation?

Damn dude, as stated already that's a really good price. I am truly jealous that I can't find deals like that when I have the disposable cash.

It was $4999 for months, then dropped to $3999. By the time we looked at it it was $3777. The new kid at the car lot had forgotten to set the parking brake and it rolled into a pole., The rear bumper, finish panel, and passenger taillight are all busted. I got pissed off at the dealer (this place was the skuzziest ever) and started to walk. I told him 25, not a penny more and after 3 hours I had it at $2500, out the door (tags and title included baby!).

The wheels are RoTa's and they are freaking SWEET!

Oh, and just to make it even better, I already found a white rear bumper, finish panel, and taillight, all for $350 so it'll be fixed by the weekend.

PS - I really only paid $1250 for it. I got a 1-to-1 match using an "Individual Development Account" (IDA). Look them up for your area, here's what I used: http://www.cowlitzsaves.com/page3.php It's a 2-to-1 match for a house (already own one), business (that too), or education (and that, graduate in May) and 1-to-1 for a car. I deposited $1250, took some classes, and got the $2500.

    It's been a good day!

Well played sir! That car would be $6k easy here in rust country.

The defroster switch should be on the far left of the dash. It's possible the switch isn't there if the hardtop was a later addition; in which case the wiring "should" be behind the blank where the switch goes and a new (or new to you) switch just plugs in. Push the blank out from behind or very carefully with sufficient backing and padding around pry from the front (but I recommend pushing from the back), unclip the plug from the blank, plug into the switch, push switch into place. I remember tapping the power there for some reason on my old '96, I just can't remember what anymore.

A P71 and a Miata? Let me guess, next you're selling that Hornet and getting an E30? Conformist!!!

Nice score!!! I just paid $3k for a '94 with zero tops... Already have a hardtop, so no big deal there.

Although mine did come with a Garrett T3 and Flyin' Miata FMIC... Different priorities, I guess.

Good luck selling the 7... If it were closer, I would've bought that instead of the Miata.

    Congrats on the car!!!

BTW, the rear defrost on my '92 simply runs off the fan switch...

White Miatas are the fastest .

I've never actually seen a white Miata with a white hardtop --it looks great. What year?

As for year, the power style rear view mirrors suggest that it may very well be a '94+. That would mean a 1.8L and that the white paint is not that of the years so notable for peeling off.

    Well Done!

It's a 93, so it's a 1.6 (feels strong to me coming from a 12A!!!) and when I called Mazda they said no VLSD. It is a "B" Package so it has PS, PM, PW, CC, A/C, and headrest speakers. Already has a nice CD player with AUX input and everything works (except the rear defrost, I don't see a switch - or even a place for one - on the left side of the dash).

And Bryce, this car is half Audra's. And no E30's (I can't get lose the AMC!!!) but yeah, it does feel a "little" conformist. I still think the Trifecta is Miata/P71/RX-7 though, I never understood E30's (or any BMW for that matter).

You'll have to add the switch but the wiring should be there iirc. Other Mazdas and 90s Escorts used the same switch.

Here is a link to the first Mod I ever did to my Miata.
17 years later, it still works perfect.
Total cost $1.25 to gain the ability to "flash to pass" which was not added as a factory feature until '94.

    ^ What he said

Nice score too. I paid quite a bit more for my non-rusty vlsd with hard top '92 (in salty southwest OH).

The fan switch looks like it has a picture of a square window defrost, would that mean it works it? Is there wiring to plug in anywhere?

I'm driving it to work today! I'm leaving early and everything!!

  • cghstang

    Feb. 2, 2010 9:41 a.m. cghstang Reader

Make sure the defroster harness is actually plugged in right behind the driver seat. When it's plugged in and on (fan on) that square window picture should light up.

If you are like me you will leave the house early but arrive to work late.
You will then leave for lunch (to get some driving in) and find some sort of excuse to leave early.

I think defrost is actually activated through the AC push button in the fan control.

    Nice stuff!

The 1.6 white is much nicer than the 1.8 white, too. See a comparison below. Keep this in mind when shopping for replacement parts.

I have no idea how to run the defrost

I may have a 96 defrost switch if you have a place for it. On a 96, it's on the left side of the steering wheel.

I'll take a look for it.

Very nice. Wish I could find one that nice in that price range around here.
