We need a fourth person for our team.

Some members of our team have fallen on hard times and can't make it to this race. Just a little team background follows:

We have two cars, one on the west coast (79 RX7) and one on the east coast (78 Malibu). We won the Denver race with the RX7 last year. We have finished every race we have entered (but not necessarily have run the entire race).

We are Team Ghetto Motorsports car # 350. We are planning on running our 1978 Chevy Malibu. The car has been through 2 Lemons races so far. It has had some small issues, but nothing major (blown hoses, belts, etc..).

We have pretty much addressed the belts and hoses issue and think the car will run flat out for the entire event. (It has only missed a total of 5 hours of racing in its two events).

We would like somebody who is quick but gentle on the car (I said quick, not FAST).

If you can pay for your part of the entry fee and help pay for misc. expenses, shoot me an email:

    wvumtnbkr at hotmail dot com

I think it would be $200 at most for the misc. expenses (gas, oil, brake cleaner, etc...)

According to the ladies, I am neither gentle or quick () so I am out.

But out of curiosity, do you need any kind of racing license for LeMons? How about safety gear?

In other news, my overseas trip and daughter's school play were just confirmed for the same weekend. Doh!

How about someone slow and sloppy who is willing to pay more than his share?!

To answer all of your questions:

I live in Latrobe PA, but work near Toledo OH. Sooo, I will trailer teh car out SUnday night to Toledo, then travel to the race on Thursday night.

Other members of the team are traveling from Cleveland and Latrobe on Thursday night. We can pick somebody up on teh way or at the airport if necessary.

No License required. Safety gear needed includes fireproof suit, helmet (SA 2008 or better), fireproof gloves, fireproof shoes, fireproof socks, fireproof neck brace. All have to be SFI certified with the tag in place.

Somebody slow and sloppy might work with the aforementioned larger payment. Email me and we can discuss.

I forgot to mention. The deadline for signing up is this Saturday. We can put a different team mate in as a place holder if this is too soon to decide.

And just to point out, that $200.00 is in addition to the teams fees for Lemons.

It should total just about $500.00 with fees and misc. expenses.

I do want to join, but you're 900 miles away.

The price is certainly reasonable considering other arrive and drive type gigs cost 800-1k.

I would think about it, but can't decide by Saturday.

Been to Gingerman enough, and am familiar with well located stick axle handling.

Alas, I'm sure I won't be able to....

    Good luck!!!

Edit- should post what April weeked you are talking about. I don't follow the series that closely to know. Others may not, too.

April 16th-17th (plus a practice day on the 15th, which we would want the rental driver to participate in)

Women are welcome also, My Fiance is a driver and wrench on the team, so don't be shy!

Well located? ehhh maybe not. But at least it is benign.

Similar to the sticks in my Alfa. Both better than the Fox chassis....

Awe man, that's less than 30 minutes from home. Unfortunately, I'd need to buy the firesuit & gloves in addition to the entry and teams fees. Probably puts it out of reach for me this year.

Also, coming from autocross, "easy on the car" probably doesn't really apply to me. Might be out to watch for a while, though.

Edit: Why can't you be looking for a driver in Fargo, ND or something, so it would present no "what if" temptation? Also, if you get in a pinch and need someone local, try the roadracing and autocross section on xceedspeed.com. Its a northern OH/IN and Michigan car site. I'm sure you'll be able to find a "local" on there.

The opening(s) are still available. Nobody is a definite yet.

We are going to put "place-holders" in for the saturday deadline. This should give people some extra time to decide if they can come out.

    Anybody? Buehler.... Buehler....?

  • Grtechguy

    Feb. 4, 2011 7:46 a.m. Grtechguy SuperDork

I'm close by Gingerman (about 30 miles) but have never raced it. But, unfortunately, cost prohibitive at this time.

Willing to show up for GRM moral support though.

Oops, I hit "note this post" on one of alpha's posts by accident, then hit it again to try to clear it. So when the mods respond, please keep moving... nothing to see here...

Oh best of luck on Lemons, hope you find a driver.

Holy crap that sounds fun. I'll talk to SWMBO in the a.m. Ya know, right after she gets done feeding the baby. I give myself a 1.7% chance of getting the green light.
