friend of mine (and GRM teammate) lives in china (past 2 years) , he said the biggest fear is riding his motorcycle, it's not uncommon for people to hit you , and back over you to make sure you are dead so they don't have to pay insurance.

though it does bring back fond memories of my 2 years living in Naples, Italy with my little beatup Lancia Delta. Difference there is that people ARE paying attention. And they ignore EVERY traffic law, sign, light etc. Difference is, the Italians know how to control their cars and never actually hit anything more than a scrape....

I always try to be courteous when traffic is merging or lane changing. Koreans don't return that favor. Turn signals mean nothing. You just have to nudge over or stick your nose out and muscle your way in. Even then they will do everything they can to get around you before they let you in. To get out of the alleyway that I live on I have to merge across incoming traffic. It's the worst possible scenario. I hate driving here.
Pedestrians are just as bad. They are clueless that they should maybe get out of the way when a 3000lb vehicle is coming down the road, but they just walk along in the middle of the road like it's no big deal.
