Did yu know that a bug has OVER 430# of lift at 120 mph? A significant portion of that is from the fenders. I actually wanted to take the Black bug. We may throw a new centersection together for the yellow bug and take it sometime. But the current plan is for the Stude. Trying to see how the recent changes will work.
Not to mention it has a cd of close to .5. A Bug is more like a brick as far as air is concerned.

I will ask the boys. If they didn't take pictures I wouldn't have a picture of my own cars. -

mR. NELSOn.
what kinda tires would the average street-ish car be using there?
the car traps 130 in the 1/4 mile, and i'm going to be running my open-track brakes, not the drag brakes, and probably welding a parachute mount in with the new cage...
R compound road-race tires acceptable?
i think my brother

Used older ZR's last year and spun at over 160 when going over the bumps. Put on Drag radials for Loring and was still spinning at higher speeds, but did grab much better traction in lower gears. They are rated at well over 200. For this event we changed the rear shocks and I am hoping that will settle the tire spin. We run Gas Coupe ... can't run a rear wing. If it does not spin it should go in the mid/low 170's Maxton and over 183-4 at Loring.
BTW, you will love having a chute. It makes the whole experience much better. At 152+ it was touch to slow down fast enough to turn in. With chute at 168+.... adjust mirror, rub smudge off rear view mirror, turn on turn signal and pull into the return road. You can eat a sandwich if you pack one. I won't run our heap without one, but the car is pretty hefty.

She's moving again....heaved the transmission back in it yesterday and all seems to be working. Much to my neighbors dismay, it even did some test laps around the hood.
Just an exhaust and a few little things to button up and she'll be Maxton ready.
My Challenge partner in crime Dave is coming down with me. I know the Nelson's will be there...anyone else?

I'm aiming for the September event at Maxton. It's the weekend before the Challenge. We want to hit both and visit my family in FL between the two events.
