^An old motorcycle buddy, blew up two motors like that.
I do seem to remember they respond GREAT to bolt-ons though.

shrug I know a few former owners that have blown motors autocrossing and on the street, on street tires. Its quite a large percentage of the owners too. Wouldn't make me afraid of buying the car, but I would have a plan in mind to correct it immediately. IIRC its not just a pickup issue, the oil pump can be a problem as well.
You sure you aren't confusing the "money shift" issue on the early cars with the oil starvation issue that comes at 1.25g lateral for extended lengths of time?
If you're getting oil starvation issues with these cars on the street, then you either are, or SHOULD be getting quite a few tickets.
I would agree with you, though.... if i were to ever do anything other than DD one, i'd likely take some preventative measures.

damnit, now you guys have me calling on a late 80s GTS parts car in Cinci - $800 with 2 motors, one thats good, and a proper gearbox...down the rabbit hole I go...

If someone approached me with a minty 88-89 GTS 5spd, i would be out of my MX6 in a hurry.
