Some misinformation here, but generally good. First, they imported over 300k Mk2 MR2s into north America. Not exactly rare, but they're no civic.
3sgte is almost bulletproof, even if it was abused.
Only significant differences in the 93 up turbo cars is longer rear control arms, reducing dynamic toe, 15" wheels and larger 2-piston front calipers. VLSD became an option in 93.
There were a lot of sunroof cars, but not many hard tops...maybe 10% or less.
Not many options available on the turbos. Fog lamps, leather, VLSD, roof style, 8 speaker cd, abs and electric power assist steering. As the model years went up, these all became standard. A rear unicorn would be a 91-92 hard top with no abs/ps/fog lamps/ac and crank windows. These had to be special ordered, and most went to auto crossers.
These are tough cars. They don't seem to rust, either. Just look out for signs of crappy POs.
Going rate for a clean 91-92 turbo seems to have been $4500-5500 and 93s are $5500-6500. 94-95 got a few revisions. Passenger airbag, different steering wheel, different cloth interior, different tail lights and spoiler, body color moldings and front lip. They only brought about 5-600 of these for each model year, 94-95. They fetch wacky prices, but I bought a clean one-owner 94 turbo off of a used car lot for $5500 once.
