The other day I was thinking it would be a really interesting YouTube video (or magazine article) by someone who could detail the evolution of the NASCAR V8 for the last 40 years. The development was pretty tightly controlled so I would expect the development was very "evolutionary" rather than "revolutionary" as might otherwise have been the case. If that article could detail what changes were made as what diagnostic/metallurgical/design advances were made I'd think it would be neat to see when they were working on combustion chamber design versus valvetrain versus intake or exhaust and WHY they were able to make those advances and what percentage hp gains were made.... Anyone else have any interest in something like that?

That's close to what I had in mind but not quite as detailed as I'd hoped. Still impressive to see how far they've come... Thanks for the link!
