there's a guy that runs with us who printed out a google earth image of the airfield we run at and draws out the course on that

First time I went to an a-x, I was "just going to watch." I said that partly to put my SO at ease. When I got there - an SCCNH event @ NHMS - I knew that watching was not an option. I recommend that you cut to the chase and go for it right away.
