At 220lbs, I'm over 1/4 of the weight of my LeGrand. I've been running, biking and swimming—losing 15lbs since March to get the whole combo down to near the minimum weight (1020 with driver) for Nationals this week. Funny thing is, even at 220, I'm about 50lbs more than what the car was designed for in terms of crossweights......and I need 75lbs of ballast for Kim. But..at least I feel good about rolling across the scales and not being 40lbs over.

So...that said, I've competed in production based classes with 140lb drivers and 300lb drivers. Guess who was faster? It didn't matter.

In short, have fun, just drive. Per

One of the fastest drivers I know around here is a huge guy (I'd guess around 300 offhand), and he drives a BMW M-Coupe, and drives it damn fast. Doesn't seem like his weight affects him much.

Just put higher spring rates on the left side of the car

FYI guys, I traded my 03 s2000 on an 08 miata sport today. Taking it on my vacation to the mountains in SE Tennessee, will probably hit the dragon this time next week! Will put some pics in my profile tomorrow

Do the personal weight reduction for the health. Truth be told, it's the only reason I care about it at all. I'm 5'11, just went under 200 for the first time in 10 years-I'm shooting for 180. Probably could have done that already if I didn't love drinking beer so much.

Honestly, work on driving first. Your first season, right? Don't sweat the weight until you're within half a second from the leaders.

And after that, buy a stinking Corvette..driver weight doesn't seem to matter as much in one of those things.

EDIT: was looking for a link to the Beat Farmers "Big, Big Man", but couldn't find one. Relevant lyric: "I may be small, in the Universe-but here on Earth, I'm a big, big man."

The best part of losing weight was not feeling drowsy on the way home from the autocross like I used to feel. Also trainers tend to like to build muscle on people for some reason, I think they have a muscle fetish. You can probably go lower than he thinks with a cardio heavy routine, with only a little or no weight work.

Dude, stick your finger down your throat every time you eat, I mean seriously you should be drinking water and only a sugar cube (my wife says it's a small cube of cheese) when you feel like passing out, and remember you're only one flu season away from your ideal weight. I hear tape worms work wonders too...
