This sounds pretty good to me.... be interesting to see if the Scalpel or the Sledgehammer would be more effective.

I'd take you up on the co-drive of the swift, but right now i'd rather try to get my cars ready... i'm not 100% comfy with other cars like that., and i'd rather blame my car for terrible times. Besides, i've seen your car in person a few times, it's a bit nicer than what i'm working with. Would just feel weird.

Are we talking about the Swift? That thing is rough, raw, obnoxious and damn near untolerable, completely uncivil for daily use and a royal pain to drive. Maybe that's why I love it?

Seriously though... many of us Indy members hang out here: www.indycarscene.com Fun place, full of locals and where the kookiest of the region hangs out while "working".

Yeah, i'm on indycarscene. Just lurk more than anything these days. The Swift sounds just like the Celica. I daily drove it this past summer and i hate myself for it.

Don't have the 2010 schedule up on indyscca yet?

Hahah, i just found it on the sccaforums, too. No worries.

That annual tech date is sooner than i would have thought. Is that mandatory? I'm lacking a garage again now, so i'm unsure if i'd be able to prep the Celica in time.

Annual tech requirements are you must have run 4 events in the previous year, be an Indy region member. wE HAVE Tech running every morning of an event from 7:30am until 15 minutes after registration closes.

Tech is basically a visual inspection of the car to make sure it's safe. all your lug nuts, no loose wheels, seatbelts catch, no floormats, no loose objects in the car to become a projectile, no sloppy steering wheels, brake pedal pressure, secure and no massive leaking fluids. Basically: Make sure your car is driveable and safe.

Ah ok, so i don't need to do annual tech, and can't even do it anyways. That's fine.

Tech shouldn't be a problem before the april 11th event. Do you know of any places around here that rent garages? I gotta do the motor mounts on my car at a bare minimum, and re-circulate the steering rack. (Forgot about that before, way cheaper than just fixing the PS leak.)

Haha, no worries. I'm not worried about it yet, too cold to even drive the car anywhere, anyways.

I should get the car corner-weighted, too, now that i think about it. I ended up just counting threads on the coilovers, and sometimes it feels a little strange.

the celica in mod, or prep would be completely outclassed. the mx6 would be in SMF ( street mod front drive ) though someone noted the SMS class, which im assuming is a regional class. these cars loose a lot of ground to other available MUCH lighter cars ( i have a crx hf w/ 1.8, that haunts my dreams, while i haunt it's mirrors), but with the right tuning to the suspension can be the scalpel you want with the sledgehammer driving the tip.

On my civic I installed ground controls on my Konis this past summer after having progressive springs for forever. I knew I was going to get it aligned and corner balanced soon thereafter but I did an event with the "counting threads" method before the the corner balance just to see how it did.

Felt better then progressives and I was happy, but then I got the corner balance. WOW, I never realized how screwed up things were. I have some corners of my cars GCs way up, others way down, and maybe the other two in the middle or so. Feels soooooo much better now and I thought it felt good before. Get a good alignment and corner balance. You wont regret it.

Heh, yeahhh... i ended up just co-driving a Neon at the events that i made it out to.

I'll be fielding the Celica next year, and the girlfriend will be running the Escort. Both in SMS regionally. If the Celica ends up being worth a damn, i'll bring it back to SMF specs, but i doubt that will happen.

The MX6 seems to be the subject of a lot of confusion as to whether or not it's actually even legal due to the routing of the exhaust. I'm not worried about it. It's turned into too much sledgehammer to ever be a danger on an autox course.
