I have found surprisingly little info on The Google but I figure someone here must know. My mother is replacing her Daewoo Leganza. Everything on it is shot except the engine which is still going strong. There are always Aveos on CL with bad engines. Since they were sloppily tossed together by Daewoo is an engine swap fairly easy?

completely different vehicles. Different chassis. Different drivetrains. So it's going to be like tryig to swap in a 3.8 V6 into a Cobalt.

EDIT: IIRC, the Leganza used the 2.2L Isuzu 4-cyl and the Cavalier/J-body 4T40 trans.

According to Wikipedia they have a GM X20SED or X22SE engine. Looks like not too many US-market cars used these:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X22SE#2.2_2

In fact it looks like the X20SED was only used in Daewoos

I would cash in for your $400 in scrap value and never look back.
Be sure to avoid other Daewoos disguised as others marques like some Suzukis

They may have given it a slightly different letter/number designation, but they also used that engine in the Isuzu Rodeo. I believe the Leganza and the Rodeo were the only two vehicles that ever used that engine, at least in the states.

Yep. The Leganza was the 2.2, the Nubira was the 2.0 and the Lanos was a 1.6 IIRC. The Lanos used a dual cam version of the old sOHC Pontiac Lemans form the late 80's.

Which was also built by Daewoo.
