I saw a spot about airing the surfers paradise race live next, and that track rocks!
Honestly, I'm enjoying this much more than the tape delays, and Mike and DW are doing quite well I think. Leigh diffie is popping in occasionally, and it's like a nascar broadcast, cept less boring, better cars and an amazing track.
MORE OF THIS PLEASE.
also, I am definately hitting up austin in 2013.
Afterthought:
Soon we will have Speed2, an "online network" that will stream certain races and such, I really hope this stays on television, since these things sound amazing with surround sound!
They're really gonna have to sit down and take a good look at their safety rules regarding fuel tanks in this series.
I watch most, if not all, of my racing on DVR delay anyway, so live isn't that important to me. I do want it to stay on TV for the quality and accessibility.
Having watched a few of the edited, tape-delay races earlier in the season, I am missing the 'regular' Australian commentators that know the tech, strategies and drivers/teams.
That said, it's not too bad so far. I'm glad Diffey is there.
I, too, was shocked at how that lap affected DW.

I haven't gotten to that part of the race yet to see what happend, but I did a little Googling and it appears the fuel cell is going to be moved to in front of the rear axle when the Car of the Future comes in 2013.
I'm for the safety improvements, but I really like racing touring or sports cars to be derived from their street counterparts. I'm not the biggest fan of 'template' tube frame cars.
That was fantastic to watch. I tried to stay up and watch F1 after that, but it just wasn't as exciting... I thought DW actually did a pretty good job. He was genuinely impressed and somewhat awed by the talent/speed/circuit etc.

That really was a great finish. I was hoping for some daring pass attempt, but man that was exciting!
Surfers Paradise October 22nd at 11pm. It's a great street course, track where I first discovered this stuff.

Mike Joy and Waltrip were a bit tiresome but Fish and Diffey at least had a better perspective and more appropriate accents. Not bad for a first-time effort.
I loved Waltrip's ride-along reactions; he experienced what serious road racers driving road racing chassis' can do on track. Let the "Mouth" go forth and spew his new-found wisdom to the masses.
It's not like he never saw a road course before. He won riverside five times in cars like this.
I truly enjoyed the race on Speed.
Ten minutes of "Vondafone" from Mr. Waltrip and I had to turn it off. I sent an email to SpeedTV saying that I like him on NASCAR but could they please use the Aussie announcers next year.
Haven't seen it yet, but in regards to Waltrip, there are quite a few drivers that are uncomfortable in the passenger seat of a race car at speed.....

I watched the race, not DW. Give us more V8's, Speed. Its so much better than Nascar.
Hope they actually make it to Austin, that will be awesome!
I am just now finding out today that this is the full race that was broadcast. I need to check tonight to make sure that some other recording conflict didnt happen.
I am about 4 races behind on my DVR but look forward to trying to find time to watch this one.
Also planning on a road trip to go see them when they come to the US.
