Yeah, that's an Eaton blower from a GTP Grand Prix sticking out of the hood. Did I mention 6-speed manual? And under $10K?

To put a positive spin on it, you only have to buy one new tire at a time.

That's what I was thinking. That much power in a bloated pig that's fwd. it's fun for ONE, long smokey burnout and then you're left with the fact that you have a bloated four sedan that no longer gets good mpg. Instant regret.

I have to wonder if some people have any idea what that accord actually weighs or are able to count doors.

It's not my cup of tea, but that's because i hate mods that result in pieces sticking out of the hood. If i'm buying something that screams 'look at me' i'd just rather it was pretty.

that's an accord coupe'.. so it's quite a bit cooler than an Accord Sedan

400 to the wheels at 7psi. Hummmm I could be wrong here but I think he studied the Tom Lehrer school of math.

It's probably every bit of 350whp. I really hate that blower kit though. Innovate design, just pretty half baked.

Heres a 5th gen Coupe with a similar setup, has dyno numbers throughout the thread, last page has updates.

It's probably not as far off as you would think. That engine should gain ~20whp per psi and probably started with a bit over 200whp.

I don't think it is linear and that would put the motor at somewhere between 440 and 480 at the crank. I just don't see that. 6 psi on my 3.8 mustang netted me between 225 and 240 depending on the tune and the fuel. So I don't see how 7psi gets you to 400.

In reply to dean1484:

That J32 makes somewhere in the 260 - 270hp ballpark at the crank stock. Add in the head swapping and such and it's probably closer to 300, plus boost.

I thought that was standard procedure for all cars listed on Craigslist?

5Psi j32a2

This particular car in the link is still on the factory ECU. Untuned. Tuning adds a LOT to these engines, as well. There's an easy 75+whp to be unlocked with a better designed plenum, more boost, and tune.

The car in the CL add should have made almost 300whp N/A before adding the supercharger with the combo it had. The J series are monsters.

The V6/6spd coupe has been on my practical wish list since it came out in '03. Having driven multiple configurations of the 7th gen, I can say it is incredibly competent for a for a FWD mid size.

The 3.8L Essex was also a pushrod V6 rated at 180hp designed in the '80s, a far cry from the J-series. As a rule, 7psi of boost on an otherwise unchanged engine is worth 50% power increase (barring frictional losses and abadiatic efficiency) . So when you take a 240-270hp V6 and add 50% that gets you in the rough ball park of 400hp at the crank, not counting modifications. Plus the Accord has less frictional losses through it's transaxle than the RWD Mustang
