I'm looking to upgrade the wheels on my '95 Passat. I want 17s. I need new tires anyway and I'm looking for an excuse to trade up. I currently have 2001 Jetta 15" 5-spoke wheels and I'm tired of waiting for a set of stock 17" VW wheels to pop up cheap. I did a Google search for tire/wheel combos and found tons of places. Tirerack just wasn't doing it for me, not in the price range I want to spend. I'm finding combos in the $650 range shipped (http://www.performanceplustire.com). Any favorite sites before I strike out on my own? And why is it so hard to get info on the wheel offset on these sites? Or why can't I shop by offset. I know I have a "high" offset car (33mm) but "high" seems to be anywhere between 33mm and 40mm. If I buy a wheel with a 40mm offset, I'm gonna have to grind the calipers again (current wheels are 38mm offset).

discounttiredirect.com is usually pretty good. Look up discount tire direct in flea-bay stores for even better wheel/tire deals.

+1. And they're a GRM advertiser. Win-win.

Another vote for Edge, although I've never bought wheels from them, just tires.

We still haven't taken the Edge Racing decal off of Kara's car since the Student Driver photoshoot over a year ago. I'll add one more vote for Edge Racing.
