What is the best time of the year to sell a car? I would think it depends on the type of car and the location. For instance trying to sell a convertible this time of year in North Dakota might not be the best plan. Might be better to wait until spring comes around.

Spring. Weather is nicer, people have tax refund cash. Then again I just sold my e28 and a 73 bronco

That gives me a good reason to not do anything I'll regret later. I'll block the idea of selling out of my mind until spring.

Right now for anything 4x4, AWD, or cheap rusty hulk with one season left up here where winter looms.
Sporty stuff that looks sexy or has sprockets... spring.
Appliance cars that people need more than they want should sell the same anytime. No one is lusting after a sweet Hyundai Accent in March.

Fall. The old bucket won't make another winter.

If it says "Subaru" on it, and you are in Washington or Oregon, right now. All the prices jumped $2,000 in 2 weeks!!

Michigan too. I'm waiting for the first 3" snowfall to list my Forester.
