that's my thoughts too.. he standing the brakes the engine was just overpowering them.. no brakes do not lock up the fronts.

Funny thing is.. I had my throttle jam on my Ti today too.. the cruisecontrol cable fell out of it's bracket (I need new engine mounts, I think) and held it part way open

Maybe I'm being silly, but couldn't he have just pushed in the clutch? I mean, I understand at 10/10ths the fine line between on the track and off the track is small, but damn...

Also at WOT you have no vacuum. If it is a vacuum assist brake system it would have felt like it went to the floor. I have a feeling that once we realized he was out of control it was two feet in so hitting the clutch was not in the cards. Also if you watch in in real time it happened really fast. I completely understand why he did not hit the clutch or the kill switch. I am betting by the time he thought of it he was probably at the tire barrier.

i'll guess that they were full manual brakes, being a race car and all.

this is one of those things where no one that wasn't actually in the car driving it should even try to second guess how it was handled as it happened.. in real time, it's only about 5 seconds from the time he tries to brake until he hits the wall. stuff happens fast at over 100mph..

It looks like the car lands and less than 1 second later someone is running across in front of the hood. That is a pretty spectacular safety crew!

There's a tire rolling in front of the car, and the photographer in the orange vest.
