A discussion of the weight formula for SCCA solo2 Street Mod with some of my fellow...engineers has led to a question: can you use a bike motor in a car in SM? The rules simply state that the motor must be from the same manufacturer, but not for what application. It seems like a car with this setup could dominate, as a FR car with a 1300cc motor would only have to weigh about 1600lbs. I'm thinking a lowered Sammy with giant tires and Hayabusa power could be a sweet challenger/autox beast.

Nope. It was legal until a few years ago. When Prepared eliminated bike motors, that take-back was foist upon SM as well.

Don't need a sami, or a busa. Just find yourself an 89-94 Swift GT(i) and boost it. 1700lbs, 250hp and the size of a CRX.

Or do like I am and see if you can build a Spec class car beater. . . ST is going DOWN! (at least in my mind.)

Yeah, but that's cool in a completely different way. Thanks for the clarification, though.

Bike motored cars go all the way to BMod, where I'm at in the LeGrand. It's a deep swimming pool with lots of sharks.

    Land Shark!

Was it GRM or some lesser publication that had the article on the carbon bodied, bike powered Honda AZ600? The builder tried to run that in D mod but the rules then banned bike engines. Now it can only run in B Mod where it really isn't competitive.
