440hp, lightened (no back seats, less sound deadening) extra braces for stiffness, aero package. Is this the most desirable Mustang in recent memory? Add an enclosed trailer and an F-250 and a membership to BeaverRun and I would be a seriously happy boy. I am headed out for some lottery tickets.

It's called the "Laguna Seca", and I can see the peanut gallery stirring to make illegal for F-Stock already. It's farking awesome if you ask me!

Definitely lust worthy. Actually, I'd be reeeelly happy with just a ho-hum Boss 302!

That just needs a cage, a bit more dieting, a set of slicks and some real brakes... yeah, that will do. I'm guessing its out of my price range though.

The current thought seems to be it won't meet the production numbers required to be eligible for Stock.

Is this the new "R" model, or are we going to see another version?

I meant race pads but... now that I think about it - street calipers usually have rubber booties and o-rings that crumble after a few cycles at race pad temps. Brembo might sell the race rings and shields for the caliper so you can just rebuild them since they are in the performance caliper biz for a living.

I have them on my car and with aggressive pads they have impressive stopping power. But they are not real good at dealing with high temps and the rotors are not at all tolerant of being heat cycled. I have never had my car on the track but I have gone on a few drives with the “Sunday morning twisty back road guys” and even keeping the pace reasonably sane they go soft faster than you would think they would and both times I went I warped the OEM rotors. I’m sure a good set of floating rotors and some cooling ducts would be a big help but I can’t imagine them working very well as a “Track brake”.

Personally, I'd rather have an '00 Cobra R, even if the new car is faster. Same reason I'd rather have a 96 Grand Sport Corvette instead of a new Z06. The older ones are just cooler, IMO.

Having had an original Boss 302 I didn't think I'd like it, but I do.

It's still WAY too big!! Definitely not a pony car at all, but interesting nonetheless.

I'm not in the market for a big, heavy sports car at the moment, but with 440 hp I might could force myself to be in the market when a few good, used examples hit the streets.

I don't know for sure what price ranges you play in, but it's definitely out of mine. When I talked to the Ford eyecandy at the Texas State Fair (they had a preproduction Boss 302 on display), she said the Boss should go for around 40k, and you could tack on about another 100k for the Laguna Seca. I'm a Mustang guy, but I have yet to see a newer Mustang worth that kind of money. I think she's probably a bit high on the price, but even at 75k, it wouldn't be worth it.
