ran across this on cl, seems a decent price for a boxter hardtop (not the car, just the hard top) for those of you looking to enter the boxter zone... no affiliation.

Hey, who said Porsche's were expensive, that's 1/2 the price of a miata hard top.

This hardtop is for a 911, the used Boxster hard tops are usually around $1,000 (don't ask me why they are twice as expensive as the ones for the 911 - beats me)

Boxster is definatly one of those cars I want. Wonder how cheap they are with a blown engine?

A "Boxster Roller" can usually be had between $3k and $5k. Just scan the two best Boxster forums www.babblers.com and www.986forum.com and from time to time there will be someone posting who has a blown engine and gets shocked by the price for a replacement engine ($12k) plus labor (another $3 ~ $4k) and is willing to sell the car "as is"

With a pretty solid finish, too! .7 out of first place at a tour event is very impressive.

    In reply to Tom Heath:

Yes Evan is very talented driver and it was his first SCCA event and he hadnt ever driven the Boxster until test and tune the day before. He had a fast run going sunday but spun approaching the line. Here is his incar video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l9cdBiIzFCU&feature=player_embedded

Given the car isnt fully developed yet I think it has tons of potential. We weighed in around 2180 lbs and with a 2480 cc motor our minimum weight is 1900 lbs. I'm looking for fiberglass for the doors and fenders now! Motor is still stock as well. We think with 250 lbs less and maybe 30 more HP it will be a very fast FP car. I'm going to be busy preparing the car the next few months!

Our biggest hurdle is we are a couple of SCCA rookies and learning how to drive and compete at a national level. Its a lot is harder than I expected.

Some updates on the car. Its torn down and we are going after more weight - we think this round it will go under 2000 lbs.

Here are some pictures on latest efforts on the car.
