All I know is it's an inline six found in Everglades City. I'm guessing some Ford?
What do you think?

Mic the bores, you might get away with a hone and rings.
not a stovebolt chevy. i think the only real identifier is the intake manifold with those two nubs cast onto it rearward of the carb, and that it looks like the bellhousing is on the right of the picture so the intake and exhaust would be on the passenger side.
Looks like a Dodge six from the 50's.

im going to go ahead and put my answer in as a dodge flathead. the two nubs cast onto the intake are in the same place as throttle linkage mounts on the dodge, and it certainly looks like a flathead with what looks to be the leftovers of spark plugs there.
nice post timing shawn
So THAT'S why you gotta keep them battery posts clean?
I'm guessing you'll be needin' a new head, though...
Everglades City? My guess is "Boat Anchor".
In reply to Woody:
Dodge Slant 6 is my guess.
Toyota 2JZ-GTE. Or not.
Was a body close by? You may have found Jimmy Hoffa.

that should buff out
In reply to patgizz:
Wow, we're both right and both at the same time.
I'm afraid I must concede the win to the man with more dokitude.
