Well getting fed up with buying a car second hand from a private party has gotten me to the point of such frustration I'm looking at new cars again. I just can't stand how people want to get rid of a car but aren't prepared in any way shape or form to sell it. For Chryslers sake, do people not know how to present something worth such value to a potential buyer? I've looked at peoples cars where they have all kinds of trash and garbage in the inside, missing factory things like spare tire, etc. Yet they don't want to budge on price.

Anyways, I just got home from Buffalo today and decided to go look at a few new cars on the way home. Checked out a couple V6 Camaros, but dealers want 10k over MSRP and won't budge on price one bit. Checked out the new mustang, but I think Fords aren't allowed in this family unless it's a 67 Cougar XR-1. Then I went foreign and took a new Genesis Couple 2.0T base for a ride. What a blast, a little under powered but damn does it handle well and ride nice. Interior is simple, but has everything you need. It reminds me of a bastard child for the 370/G37 cars. Also went and tried out a WRX Hatch, but it was just like every other scoobie I've ever driven, nothing to really sway me towards that or spending the extra cash.

So I'm stuck on the Genesis now, unless I find a GTO or CTS-V with an owner ready to sell before I find one in the right color.

Heh, and look under the hood where the turbo is located, it only has like 2 ft of space around it, seriously, room for upgrades goooood.

Drive the V6 Genesis Coupe too if you can. I'm waiting on driving a Track model before I decide.

i dont' have money for v6 or track model, just base model pretty much. I'm wondering if down the road a 4.6 swap from the sedan would work?

I don't think it'll clear the shock towers, and I bet you can get the 2.0r that's supposed to be a decontented track for the same price as the base, but I think that one's a few months off yet.

dunno man how much is a couple grand going to change your monthly payment? That's how I look at it any way.

    Edirt: Okay 4k I mean

I think you're getting impatient and stretching your budget and it's not worth it.

R-spec all the way! cheap, light, and tons of potential. and yeah, i checked out a 2.0T and it was a huge engine bay for a teeny engine lol not like the 370Z i can't see how anyone will fit a turbo kit in there...

Look at the twin turbo kits for the 350z you damn near take apart the whole car to get them suckers in.

Just get the GTO or CTS-V. You have a V8 and seem to like it that way. Be patient and don't take the depreciation hit.

BTW I did find some cool cheap wide wheels for the GTO. It is silly I find cool wheels for a car I don't own? 17X9 all the way around.

GTO is a great touring car. I like the way they look but I am biased. I owned one!.

Take a look at the sites below and call the guys to ask them if there are any for sale in the area. Both in Tampa and know about cars that are for sale but not always listed.

http://www.tiberioperformance.com/ - Tom is the SE GTO "guy" http://www.fasterproms.net/ - Jeremy is the best tuner in the SE - biased opinion too.

I'm in the same sport DirtyB.

Asking for the cars VIN is like asking for their SSN. I had one guy from FL (I'm SC . . . and told him that) tell me if I wanted the VIN I need to come and get it . . . Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?? Or the best one today, I asked guy some questions about the car. His answer? "Yea . . .I still have it."

I can't even catch a break on project cars. Example: Seller: It's a non-running car, you know that? StrikeZ: Yea, nothing wrong with a project car, body looks good, no accidents according to CarFax. How much you looking to get? Seller: $2500 . . . I can't let it go for anything less than that. StrikeZ: $2500, for a car that doesn't run. . . .ehhhh Seller: Well I did buy it last year for $3K and it wasn't running then. I really don't know what's wrong with it . . .

So I'll just wait . . . not need to rush and spend the $$$ that will just keep on stacking my account

GM 72 hour sale... Pontiac G8

  • Feedyurhed

It's hugely frustrating to try and buy a used vehicle. Like you said everybody wants top dollar for a much less (usually MUCH less) than perfect vehicle. And if you are looking for a vehicle like a Honda Civic or Jeep Wrangler, ones that have a large following it's virtually impossible to find one that hasn't been horribly modified or that doesn't have extreme high miles.

still a little out of my price range, 22k is stretching it!

I know this is stretching your budget but this is a well modded GTO. I would get rid of the wheels and get some Beyren's and maybe get a Monaro front end. Otherwise this is a slick cruiser:

If you are serious about the GTO keep an eye on the ls1gto.com website. The for sale section generally has at least one or two GTO's added a day. That's where I bought mine.

IIRC I think Hyundai said they intentionally made the engine bay too small for the 4.6L engine. Dang them!!

Drooool! Impulse Blue Metallic and already has an Optima! I'd be sorely tempted by that one.
