So, after talking about it for what seems like forever, i bought a 2002 Crown Vic. it has the 3.27 locker rear end which i found out tonight works great. Its just been detailed and it looks killer. It has 103xxx miles on it. I bought it from Emergency Remarketing and Brett there is AMAZING. honest and to the point. great person to do business with it appears.

The car is a boat. its massive. And it has great pickup and is a hoot to drive. Coming home from school im doing 80ish in the fast lane but then the traffic ahead sees me and all of a sudden no one is going more then 65PMH. hahaha

Cool beans. I found out dad just sold our 99 non-P71. That made me slightly sad inside.

So can we officially say if the answer isn't miata it will most definietly be P71?

Good buy. Gotta love a proper boat that makes everyone get out of your way.

    nice buy.

So how much can those atrocious things tow again?

Full size Grandpa cars. The new tow rig?

I've been watching Buick Roadmasters going for a song on CL lately. I know they'll tow in comfort too.

Add a few dash lights and I bet they include moving out of the way with that slowdown.

P71...what mods do you have on yours?

  • P71

    Nov. 13, 2008 11:31 a.m. P71 HalfDork

They move out of the way for me, but then I don't go more then 5 over simply because I'm too lazy too.

They can tow a full-size car trailer with an RX-7 on it I'd imagine they are quite capable of towing well, especially P71's with the huge tranny cooler, and all of the other auxiliary coolers (power steering, oil, etc) plus the huge brakes. It is a full-frame car.

My mods are listed on my Reader's Rides page:

    Vote for me!

Please ad me to the list of people who wants a P71. I occasionally consider selling the M Coupe to pick one up... and pocket a fat wad of change from the difference in price.

It seems like P71s are pricier out here in Cali, than the rest of you are getting them for.

I know this has come up before, but how stout is the P71 for rally-x? Do they have issues with impacts on the bottom of the car or anything?

  • Apexcarver

    Nov. 13, 2008 5:23 p.m. Apexcarver UltraDork

i bought an E30 but have thought at times that a P71 may have been a better choice.

.8" higher ride height than a standard CV, just for you

if you're just going to rally it, that's a great excuse to buy a rusty/older than 2001 example 'cause it wont' make any difference. $1000-1500 would get you sumthin nice.

If you get one for rally-x, please get an mid nineties model with 15" wheels and the towing package. Then you'll have a limited slip and be able to run BFG Mud Terrains in SCCA's stock class.

Yes, I've thought about this before.

As much as I'd like to be able to produce pictures, please note the key phrase: "thought about."

The closest I have is this:LeSwampre

TSL Super Swampers + LeSabre = LeSwamper

Please excuse the threadjack, I want a new P71 too.

Some day...I will have to own a P71 with a crate motor with a twin-turbo set-up to absolutely destroy everything on the road.

    Nice buy!
