I know there are a few Portlanders on here, and for my future use, I'd love to know of a really good local muffler/exhaust shop...

But for now, we just have a slightly noisy 2000 Civic personal transport appliance, and I just want to have it quieted and involve as little suck as possible in the transaction.

Midas? Meineke? Do any of those type of places not suck a lot?

I had a local shop I'd been pretty happy with, but it seems they lost their one good guy... Now I'm adrift and assuming the next time it Really Matters I'm going to have to just do it myself.

We have a really good shop up in Rainier, OR. I dunno about down in PDX though, I'll ask around.

    Thanks, I appreciate it!

Probably not worth driving the Civic to Rainier, but I might bug you for the name the next time it comes up for a car that matters

Darrel's Discount muffler off 82nd, a couple of blocks south of Powell. Loynings Engine Service recommended them to me. I had them build my cat/pipe unit that connected the KBD header to the Brave Exhaust.

    Ed's Mufflers on Mcloughlin

Exhaust Specialties on SE 7th, north of Powell.

This thread reminds me we all need to meet up one day and talk cars. We should invade Bryce's house to look at the Honda Challenge project.

Did you know that Honda warranties most of their exhaust systems for life?

I bought one muffler for my car in 95, the subsequent 2 or 3 mufflers have been FREE !!!

(Not sure if this program applies to 2000 model year, but it is worth checking out.

    In reply to KATYB:

I'm torn between the fact that this is obviously the grassroots answer, and the fact that the Civic is an appliance, and a vehicle for which I can muster very little enthusiasm for wrench-turning...

In reply to Javelin & oldskewltoy:

Yeah, it'd be really cool to meet the local GRMers. I think there are quite a few here.

I was just going to ask this question! I'm in PDX and need an exhaust leak welded up on my Datsun.

Look at? Hell, I could use a hand, I'll put you to work too! Seriously, fridge is stocked with food and beverages and guests are always welcome. I'm in North Portland and at the shop literally every single day for the next month or so. Shoot me a message and I'll give you an address, come on down and witness the spectacle.

Well next weekend is a 3-day weekend. You want an invasion one day? I think we can all band together and bring our work gloves, right fellas?

Crud, I'm bicycling to Eugene to visit my folks on the long weekend, though it might end up being only two days. I'll be watching to see what shakes out... If I can sort the schedule, I'm totally there!

seriously.... why not post up where your shop is... and anyone who choses stops by..... no? (now where's that innocent angel emoticon?)

I don't feel like posting my shop location up since I post so many pictures of shop contents, I'm sure you understand. Seriously, if anybody wants to come out, shoot me a message and let me know. Guests are always welcome. Here's the latest update:

I have been informed by SWMBO that there is a baby shower on Sunday the 4th in Portland. I am obligated to drive down with her and then go entertain myself. So who all can do the 4th at around 3PM?

    Bryce, will you be there?

I'll be Astoria meeting with a photographer for engagement photos.

SWMBO may be headed to Seattle the weekend after to shop for Wedding dresses and I might have the 924 on the road by then. Speaking of needing help, anyone feel like stopping by some evening the next couple of weeks and helping R&R the clutch in the toofah? :)

It would be nice to meet up with some local GRM dorks and lend Bryce a hand with their Challenge ride :)

I second that one. But I've only had old stuff done there. Three old Fords to be exact (49, 58 & 66), and that was 8 years ago...on second thought, don't listen to me
