I just changed the title and plates to my new challenge car. Had to get another one, the first one is still under construction. Didn't plan on spending 2 months freshening up the engine due to a tremendous amount of sludge, leaky gaskets, bad timing sensor and a burnt valve. Oh well at least I will have something to bring.

Man I hope we don't have to do that! Engine goes back in tonight hopefully, and I'm crossing my fingers that Megasquirt doesn't give us headaches!

I have a photo album showing the rebuild on project 1, I plan on bringing with me. When I rebuilt the oil pump in the timing chain cover it was this/close to being completely plugged with sludge. When I pulled the engine I also took the harness up to the steering column. Hopefully the install should not be much of a problem. Good luck with the install.

What's the protocol on spectating? I know it sounds like a newbie question, but hey, I am one.

You come and watch. You have fun. You talk to people. If you don't build a car for next year, monkeys will throw poo at you. It's simple, really.

Good to know. Poo suit at the ready. I'll have a car next year, I just want to see what it's like before I enter, and how crazy I have to be. The mag is great, but seeing cars in person is soooo different.

Per-whats the deal with the banquet. Can we buy a ticket without having a car entered or being a guest of a challenger?

I have people that want to fly in and spectate, is Jacksonville the closet airport to use for commercial flights?

And approximately how far away is it from the hotel?

Check Orlando, too. They're about the same distance from Gainesville, IIRC, but the flights into Orlando were a lot cheaper when I checked.

There is an airport in Gainesville. Granted the prices are generally higher though.

I travel a lot for work. JAX is 88 miles and MCO is 124. JAX has much simpler ingress/egress too.

But Nashco is right, MCO is, on average, a little less expensive.

What's the deadline for purchasing a banquet ticket? I just don't have the money until my wife gets payed, which will be like the first week in October. I really don't care if I'm eating or not, I just want to be there for the awards.

I don't know if it is too late, but I have a good (stock) clutch disc (almost new, has sprung hub) and pressure plate (fingers aren't bent, clamped well). Thought I'd throw that out if you need it. Price is $.01 plus shipping, or if you can wait, we can put it in at the GG parking lot. Also, make sure your fork isn't bent. You may want to shim the pivot ball if it has been worn down on the top.

first timer question here.... can you bring a different car than the one on the entry form? looks like our intended entry is a no go for the 2009 event and we have access to a cheap backup. do we need to do anything to officially change our entry?

Happens quite a bit unfortunately. In fact, it is also happening to me this year. Make sure your vehicle description form is for the correct car.

Sadly, I won't make it this year, guys! I got laid off last November and have finally found gainful employment again. Unfortunately, it's back in California. Ah, well... I do have my 2nd $250 GTX to work on for $2010!

The bad news is after a gut wrenching decision... im out for this year. the car is only maybe a days work and few parts away from being able to at make it through the event without melting down, but the finances are in the negative, so its not going to happen. several grand in unexpected med bills(insurance doesn't cover crap anymore!) and taking in an old friend who was about to live under a bridge have put a serious dent in my plans.

The good news is that Team Spectator will return this year you cheer you on, at least on Saturday, and it looks like ill bring a few more people with me. And i now have another year and some interesting ideas for the car looking at the pile o [parts in my garage, as well as more help to get them going, and i should still come in under a grand!
