I scored a used sealed lead acid battery from a decommissioned control panel a few months ago. I relocated the battery to the trunk of the Tracer and have been using it with no problems since. My question is, since this is a sealed battery, do I still need to enclose it in a proper battery enclosure?

Info on the battery can be found here: http://parts.digikey.com/1/parts/1440-batt-sealed-lead-acid-12v-28ah-lc-x1228p.html

If it is a fully sealed battery it doesn't need to be enclosed, if it is behind a firewall it doesn't need to be enclosed, however extra safety is never a bad thing

enclosed might be good just to keep the cables from contacting anything if it comes loose

You wont have to worry about random metallic objects in the trunk coming in contact with the battery either.
