I know most of you aren't drag racers, but I'm beyond excited. After the challenge, I went to work to figure out the fueling issue it was having down there. Turns out it was nothing more than a dead o2 sensor. Well, I replaced the sensor and mounted up some newer slicks (instead of the 7 yr old dead ones that fit my budget!) and took it out today. Best pass was:

    ST - 1.66 1/8 - 7.13 @ 100.45 1/4 - 10.97 @ 128.5

    Woo hoo!

Here's a video of the pass.

Thanks guys. For a FWD, stick car, it's definitely hooking well. New slicks and a nicely prepped track definitely help.

What I'm really excited about is that there's more in it as it sits. It went 11.02 at 124.5 without any help from nitrous. My problem is that when I tried to make a full nitrous pass, the clutch wasn't up to the task. The 10.97 is basically an exact copy of the 11.02 at almost every point on the timeslip, with the exception is that I hit the button in 4th with 35 hp jets to hopefully push it just enough to squeeze a 10.9x.

At that point, I figured what did I have to loose, so I went back up, where I lost the clutch completely. Slipped on me at the hit of the throttle. She held just enough to squeeze that 10, which was the goal.

More clutch and a limited ship for next year will = more fun. I'm confident she has a mid 10 in the low 130's if I could run the bottle all the way through.....and if that ticking time bomb of a motor holds together! I still can't believe that long block is holding together!

Han Solo couldn't have said it any better. ("did you hear me Baby?, hold together")

Ha! You witnessed that! I guess you may have seen me kiss it goodbye right before I closed the hood! LOL!

I was pretty concerned that the motor was going to be done on that pass, but it's been a trooper!

I'll be back, but I doubt the Shadow will. That car is a keeper for me (I've owned it now for about 7 years) and I'd like to start upgrading some stuff here and there that won't fit in the GRM budget. If time permits, I want to build something else for the Challenge. However...if I don't build anything else, and I haven't done the upgrades I want to, it may be back. We'll see.

How did you find the o2 was dead? Was is not reading at all?

    BTW, nice pass.

But now all my stuff looks slow

I was going to enter the challenge at some point. Nevermind, I guess. That mph is insane, by the way, and reflects the late nitrous hit, that mph should be good for mid tens if you could hook with it.

    BTW, nice pass.

Threw the scan tool on it at home, o2 volts were stuck at .4-.5 volts. No change at all. Threw another sensor in it, started it up and a few minutes later it was bouncing around as normal. Cleared the ECU, started it again and it was time to take it to the track.

I should have checked this in FL. If I had to, I would have pulled an o2 sensor off my Dakota in the pits and ran it in the Shadow for the rest of the event!

Yep, MIR. It's a nice facility and very well run.

Are you in the DC area?
