well the challenge is a few weeks behind us now and i'm back in the garage tinkering with plans/hopes for 2012
we all know you aren't going to get far in the challenge without some proper race tires...
where did you get your tires and how much did you spend on em?
My autocross wheels and tires were $350. I found them on an F Body forum. I also have two sets of Hoosiers that were free from some local competitors at Millville.
My drag skinnies I dumpster dove for at Atco and the rears I bought from the GRM classified for $75.
Long story short try to get out to some events and talk to as many people as you can. You never know who has what clogging up their garage.

I just found Miata wheels and very used tires for $50. The guy hated the wheels and was going to sell them for scrap. He was horrified when I told him that I intended to race the tires one last time! The wheels are ugly and dated looking, but they will polish up well enough to get by.
Found them through a friend that autocrosses with the guy and knew that I needed cheap wheels and tires.
I tossed about 6 sets of 10" Goodyear SLM stock car slicks this summer that had some life left in them. If you've got enough car to run that big a tire, I'd bet they are available as close as your local short track for very little money.
but goodyear slicks are not exactly DOT legal like requires for the auto-x portion yes?
will make sure the beast is running well enough to hit a few auto-x events come summer :)...

True. Haven't actually read the challenge rules- something about the 3000 mile tow...
