i'm looking to buy some small quantity tubes, angles and plates and was wondering if anyone has found a good place for these items in small quantities in the atlanta area..... other than lowes or home depot!

Star Metal! It's a scrapyard, but if they've got it, it's cheap.

You might try a Metal Supermarkets...looks like they have one in Atlanta.

Small orders and cheap are not usually synonymous, though.

Metal Supermarket is good for the low quantity stuff, but isn't particularly cheap. Still, no minimums, good selection, etc. makes it worth paying too much per pound.

you can get all ranges of materials at mcmaster-carr, not the cheapest though, and I heard you can't do will-call as a private person, have to have an 'organization' or some such silliness...

We buy from Metal Supermarket all the time - WAY cheaper than McMaster. They deliver for just $5, and they'll cut every piece to your dimensions. We find their prices to be very good.

thanks! i had no idea this metal supermarket place existed.

i'm intrigued by the star metals place though. is tis on howell mill road? i cant seem to find any good info on it except a contact info page. do they stock any pieces or is it justa question of finding something when you are walking through the trash pile area? and is it mostly cars and appliances or do they get beams and tubes and the like too.

if you are looking to buy cage materials try roll cage components in VA. i know it sounds like a canoe, but after working with him to try and put together a kit for a fiat i dont think i could have done it cheaper buying the material locally and his stuff came with great notches pre cut, steel plate material for the mounts, a well bent main hoop, and gussets.
