I know that VW had the G-60 supercharger on some of their cars, but a quick search showed me that they are silly expensive.

The Cobalt superchargers, on the other hand, are not. Has anyone here home-brewed any kind of system using one of these? I'm seeing them for $200, so if the answer is no, I might just pick one up and start fabricating brackets for my VW.

It's just an M62 isn't it? I'm pretty sure there are a lot of homebrew systems using eatons and the lessons gleaned from those should be largely applicable.

Assuming I'm right about it being an M62, they've been used on Miatas I think so someone might have a good source of specs on them. It might have been MP62s they were supercharging Miatas with though.

It is an M62, similar to what's on the early FWD 3.8 SC GM's. Those can be had around here for $75

This is a pretty good build

I thought they were an M45, but I hadn't done much research. An M62 will be even better, I guess.

In any event, it can't hurt to pick one up. Turbocharging is overdone.

    Why not a M90 from a Lightning or T-bird?

Price, mostly. I'm trying to buy parts at Challenge friendly prices. It's also got to fit under the hood of a 1995 Golf and drive the 2.0 engine.

The M62 will be fine for your 2L engine. I have an M62 on my 2L Ford Focus and it works very well.
