Interested in any opportunities to save on these.

A quick peep at RockAuto shows that they carry just about anything needed to rebuild the alternator for under $40, remans start at ~$100 including core charge.

Tuck that under your hat if you don't have any luck otherwise.

well I only know the seller through a friend but having met him previously I knew he was a bit on the flaky side. Just got this update from the friend acting as go-between

"The situation just got a bit more complicated. Owner traded it for a sniper rifle. The new owner, who I know very well, can't drive a stick. What he really wants is some fairly reliable E36 M3box with an auto that gets good gas mileage for commuting. Or cash, exact amount seemed negotiable."

Still gonna see what happens but I hate flaky people.

I don't think I have ever seen one of these in person...but I would definitely snag it if I had the chance!

I'm the mediator in this fiasco.

The new owner is a hoarder, but he does sell/trade, mostly in crazy firearms. For example, I had the opportunity to shoot up his grandma's old wood-grained Buick stationwagon with a full auto MAC-10.

Anyway, it's moving a whole five miles, and while it might get left out in the rain with no window and nothing covering it, I doubt any effort will be made to repair it, and the price may go down in a fairly short period of time.

I have a good feeling that the car won't get dramatically worse in the meantime. Unless it gets shot.

Hey! I didnt know you even had an account over here (2 post count so I guess you lurk)

Sounds like he's a barter hound so tell him to send me a list of his wants, aside from automatic crapboxes and weaponry I have most other things around here :)

Why are we communicating simultaneously on here, email, and facebook chat?

I'll make sure it doesn't go anywhere.

Wait till you buy tires. Not performance tires. Tires. Good luck.

Chunk some 15's on it and roll.

    Yoko all seasons for $58

But it looks like the hot ticket would be going with 14's and shoehorning the 195/45-14 T1R under the arches. Same diameter as the twelves.

Only $88? They are getting cheaper. Last time I looked into 195/45-14's they were over $100 a tire.

Dmack (a rally tire company) offers DOT legal european rallycross tires in sprint/swift/metro friendly sizes... and they aren't very expensive

Tires are not a concern at all.

185 55 14 or 195 45 14 on Swift GT rims. This is your best, and easiest bet.

15's are a mistake on these cars unless they're stupid light, and only on 195 45 15, which is even a little big. 13's work well. I like 175 50's on mine.

woln't the alternator off any 3cyl metro/swift fit? sammies, 4cyl swifts, trackers, etc??? As far as wheels, the 4x113.4 pattern isn't that rare. Plenty of options. I picked up (didn't buy) the 15x? wheel from an acura vigor at the pull a part the other day, and it seemed very light, and looked nice, too. unfortunately, only three on the car, or I would've been on them like stink on something.
