I did a quick check on Autotrader and could not find any used privately owned Cobalt SS sedans.

I think it had more to do with the automatic transmission. When you stepped on the gas coming out of a curve, there was a pause, then you watched the pressure gauge on the a-pillar build boost, then it would shoot ahead.

My wife and I both have owned cavaliers, and both have been happy with them. A '90 cavalier was the first car I bought with my own money. 1k for a sub 100k car that lasted me 6 years with minimal maintenance outside of normal consumables. My wifes first car she bought with her own money was a brand new special ordered '99 Z24 5speed. She took delivery with 2.6 miles on the ODO We both LOVED that car. Yes it had some typical 90s GM electrical hooliganery and needed a LSD in a baaaad way, but aside from those factors, she drove it for 8 years with very few problems, and none were hard on the pocketbook. I could put a bewildered look on a lot of sports car drivers faces when a cavalier was keeping up with their insert v8/european/japanese sports car here. It didnt smoke the pants off anything, but for a " just a cavalier", it was pretty great.
That said, I wouldve loved to have said that a Cobalt SS sedan was the first new car I ever bought. I didnt get the chance because GM did what they do best and pulled the plug on the car I wanted before I got a chance to own a new one. When I find one in good shape that I can afford, I will at least be able to say that a Cobalt was the first forced induction car I ever owned. That Im certain of
